I got confused by Debian's numbering scheme - there isn't one.
Ubuntu has a beta release, but you cannot cherry pick bits of KDE to
build.

There are a number of posts which have the same errors in as you posted,
so there might be commits that can be pulled out and patched in the
current version of KDE.
Other than that, it'll stay broken!
