I have release 13.37 according to /etc/slackware-version. I have recenly discovered that my mutt package has been downgraded, and I don't understand how/why. I noticed it because of error/warning messages because of unsupported keywords in my config files. So, the version in use now is 1.4.2.3. But in /var/log/ I have noticed: removed_packages/mutt-1.5.21-arm-1-upgraded-2013-04-26,15:36:36 removed_scripts/mutt-1.5.21-arm-1-upgraded-2013-04-26,15:36:36 What is this? How can I reinstall 1.5.21? $ slackpkg install mutt-1.5.21 Looking for mutt-1.5.21 in package list. Please wait... DONE No packages match the pattern for install. Try: /usr/sbin/slackpkg reinstall|upgrade Thanks! Christophe. As far as I know slackpkg should not automatically do any sort of automatic package dependencies (unless you use a modified version that also rewuires using a repo with managed deps) or other automatic actions that are not specifically passed via command line (like upgrade or reinstall). Are yo sure you did not accidentally reinstall a package series and? accidentally checked mutt for reinstall ? Is your system exposed to internet for long periods ? If I were you I'd check the package content to match perfectly (ie some hash check not just size) with what should be distributed with the package having an unjustified package version on your system could mean your system has been hacked. If your system has been hacked you might have other compromised bins so you should do your checks from a known good rescue system (ie your hash binary might have been hacked to report good hashes for the other bins that have been compromised). When I upgrade a Slackware system, I *always* back up all of my data and config files to another machine or media; boot the Slackware installer, re-make the file systems and reinstall from scratch. I usually find that this is faster than performing a system upgrade and also there's no residue from the previous installation. You should't use slackpkg to upgrade between distributions, as far as I'm concerned unless you read the CHANGES_AND_HINTS doc that Robby puts together to make sure you take any necessary manual steps on conjunction with slackpkg. For example, slackpkg has no idea what to do if a package has been renamed as the only place it has to look is the ChangeLog.txt. You could simply take mutt from armedslack-13.37/slackware/n/mutt-*.tgz and use upgradepkg on your system. However, it may not work if you do not have any specific versions of libraries it requires. Since you seem to have aborted an upgrade previously, I'd wonder about what state your OS is actually in. Missing HTTPs certificates where? if it's on the server to which you're connecting, then contact the administrator of that server. If the servers work properly outside of Slackware ARM, then perhaps there's something screwed up in the root CA store.. although I doubt it since I download stuff via https on ARM current and don't receive any errors. I didn't know that sbopkg worked on the ARM port. -- Ottavio
