[ARMedslack] Mounting installer initrd on Chrome OS: would it work

It's not a block device, it's a gzipped cpio archive.

Get cpio. It's in slackware/a

To unpack the uncompressed versatile image:

mkdir installerdir
cpio -di < ../Downloads/initrd-versatile
