[ARMedslack] Which packages to install for gcc/make/etc ?

You mean installpkg ?
It does have the -root option - this is how the miniroots are made, and
the installer's installpkg is copied from the pkgtools package.

It's *supposed* to be like this anyway, unless something's gone wrong some
place -- where are you seeing the missing -root option?
