I think it happened when I upgraded hal -- but I could not be sure because
/etc/rc.d/rc.hald was chmod 644 and only chmod 755'd after the most recent
build.  So it could be that it was never running at all.
I'll try it on the RiscPC soon.

I intend on upgrading the Kernel once 2.6.22 is released.
